Anya Resort, Tagaytay: A Review

One weekend, my family and I stayed at Anya Resort in Tagaytay for a staycation. My sister suggested the place and I was so glad she did! Having been prepped and groomed for the hospitality industry in college, and being trained hard to render world class service at work, I finally get to be at the receiving end - the guest. I have checked in at small business hotels during family trips and a few 5-star hotels back in college, usually to do studies and activities related to my major, but never have I been to a place this hospitable. Having said that, I thought one good way to share the experience is through a "mini" reaction paper and video!😉

Anya Resort, Tagaytay

Reception
Their reception resembles a big summer house living room where the check in is done while sitting on a sofa and being offered a welcome drink. The front office agent (who I forgot the name, sorry..) assisted us. Before she went through the details of our stay, she briefly introduced us to the general manager who's casually walking around the area and having a personal interaction with the guests. After settling everything she led us to our rooms.

Accommodation
Junior Suite
Their luxurious bathroom in panorama

Our junior suite really matches the pictures on the website. I was impressed that almost all the amenities you can think of were available in the room! Some of these items are available only by request in other hotels.
- Bedroom slippers
- Extra pillow
- Iron and ironing board
- A safe
- Fully stocked minibar
- Coffee/tea making facility
- Regular sized toiletries that you can actually use unlike the miniature sized bottles in other hotels, shaving kit and a sewing kit
- Blowdryer
- Welcome fruits and letter personally addressed to the guest.

Facilities

Fitness Center
Equipped with what looks like high-tech exercise machines with Bluetooth or wifi to sync with your mobile. Plus, mats, weights, towels, plain and lemon water, and energy bars.
Niyama Spa
We were informed that the spa should be booked in advance.

Heated infinity pool

Staff
Everyone was courteous and attentive. From the security, the reception people, phone operators up to the random hotel staff that you walk pass. They all greet guests a lively "great morning!"

Food
Our room package included a breakfast buffet. Their selection is not as wide as the five-star hotel, but all the staple breakfast food was available. There was an egg and pancake station, cereal dispensers, fruits, juices, chicken, fish, chicken and pork tocino for main dishes, plain and nasi goreng rice, and breads for carbs. The carrot bread was really good that we bought a loaf at the lobby when we checked out. After being seated, the staff oriented us of what is available and took our drink orders. Like the GM, their, I think, operations manager, if I'm not mistaken, was also present checking on the guests and even helped clear tables!

Conclusion
As a guest and once a part of the industry, I say Anya succeeded in giving us a memorable experience. They were able to provide a five star service without being stiff and too formal. They combined filipino hospitality and world-class service well.
