Us TRAVELS: A GUIDE TO GETTING LOST IN KOREA
I decided to share our travel experiences by dividing it in a series of blog entries as I find it quite difficult to sum its entirety up in one post. Check out the first one here: https://uyniki.blogspot.com/2018/10/my-kind-of-k-pop-culture-theory-on-whys.html
This one will be my good ol' review about the place we stayed in.
Acube Hotel
Location
Situated in Dongdaemun, more than an hour bus ride from the airport (airport shuttle 6015) and a five minute walk from Jung gu Office bus stop, if you didn't heed google maps' advise to walk inside and get confused in the dried seafood market like we did, its location is convenient for shopaholics because of its proximity to the shopping malls of Dongdaemun. There are also a few good choices of local restaurants to find on the way to the malls and the Dongdaemun Design Plaza.
Reception
The reception has a very basic design and has a minimal space for the front desk and breakfast buffet area. Check in process was as usual. The bill was settled right during the check in time.
Guest Room

A nice traditional furniture on our floor.
Guest Room
The room was not very spacious, yet not so cramped either. Like the reception area, it is basic and practical.

Automated toilet bowls always amaze me and that little bath tub, I can only fit sitting, I swear..
Bath sets, tooth care sets, towels, slippers and complimentary water were all provided in two sets and replenished daily.

I don't know if this is a common amenity provided in Korea. This would be helpful for tourists who didn't buy pocket wifi.
Guest Service
The service is efficient. We come back to a room made up nicely every night during our entire stay. I just wished they have an option for guests to either have some of their amenities replaced or to let them finish up their stocks instead of throwing away half-empty bath sets, towels and slippers that are only used once.
Location-wise, the area is fairly safe for two women to walk the streets even in the dark. There's a convenience store nearby, and a money exchange if you cross the opposite block. I find the airport bus stop a bit far, though, with luggage in tow.
I'd say basic and practical are the two words that best describe our accommodation. It is one of the better choices for people who, like us, don't need a posh hotel, but still want a decent, safe and clean hotel that still offers the basic hotel services.
PS
The title was coined by my sister which stands for Uy Sisters’ travels – a project she said she plans to do that’s supposed to be a series of videos documenting our travels together starting with our Korea trip, our most recent one. I'll just leave that one to her since I have zero talent in that.😊
