Work Makeup At A Time Like This

| Those were the days (as in three months ago😁) |
The past few days while preparing to temporarily close down our shop as customers’ turnover dwindled down due to flight restrictions and cancellations happening all over the world, and for everyone's safety as well, one would have wondered why I still bothered to put on makeup everyday like it's a regular day, when all we did was just pack and wrap up. The appropriate answer would be because it is in the grooming standards like in all of my previous jobs. There was one workplace that didn't require me to wear a uniform, another one that didn't require my hair put up, but one thing remained constant is the makeup. It's part of looking and being professional.
My other answer, my as-of-the-moment answer is that it made me feel like it's a regular day. Like there's no fear and uncertainty floating in the air. I have zero talent in blending colors, contours and in using those fancy brushes. In fact, it just stresses me out. An extra to my prep time. Although I often end up rushing out the door so I wouldn't miss the bus, this little stress distracted me from the real stress caused by all the anxiety and fear you hear and feel from all over the place. It may be just a placebo, but it sure helped me put on a brave face (a pretty healthy looking one!) at a time like this.
Now it's time to stay inside the house – a good time to maintain a healthy body, mind and soul (and skin😊). Time to be socially responsible and also, a very important time to save money.
